Proportion and risk factors of Minimal Hepatic encephalopathy in patients with Child A & B cirrhosis and its response to treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection

Backgrounds and Aim: Minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) is the least severe form of Hepatic Encephalopathy (HE), not recognized on clinical examination. It impairs Health Related Quality Life (HRQoL). This study aimed to estimate proportion MHE in patients with Child A&B cirrhosis, factors associated MHE, prevalence H. Pylori (Hp) infection among them response treatment for Hp. Methods: Prospective 260 CHILD cirrhosis enrolled over a period 15 months. Patients underwent detailed history evaluation, baseline investigations, psychometric analysis (NCT A, Serial dotting, Line tracing), ultrasonography Oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (OGD). MMSE<24 were excluded. was diagnosed if 2 tests abnormal. Hp testing done by histopathology. who positive given weeks standard pylori along lactulose reassessed using after 6 initiating therapy. also assessed without weeks. Results: In patients, cirrhotics 60%(n=156). found 131 out patients. 98 patients(62.8%) had infection, whereas 33 patients(31.7%) non-MHE group(p<0.001). Among Anti 34 patients(34.7%) it significant compared undergoing therapy(p=0.036). more B patients(p=0.01). influencing Frailty strong association MHE(p<0.001). Conclusion: may be contributor MHE. will benefit A & infection.
